With four decades of rich experience in the construction industry, Mr. Russell has crafted an exceptional career built on skill, dedication, and innovation. As a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, he initially honed his expertise in the field serving diverse roles from a heavy equipment apprentice, mechanic, and welder to a respected operator. His skills propelled him further, earning him the titles of a lead tunnel mechanic and eventually a master mechanic.
From 1981, Mr. Russell served the International Union of Operating Engineers in various influential capacities. His leadership prowess led to his appointment as Director of the IUOE Health & Safety Department in 2002, a position he held with honor until his retirement in 2012. As a director, he had a broad range of responsibilities encompassing regulatory affairs, legislation, training, and consulting services for over a hundred IUOE local unions. His stewardship in this capacity was characterized by unwavering dedication to the wellbeing of the union's members.
In addition to his directorship, Mr. Russell has been an active member of numerous government and construction industry committees, offering his invaluable insights to shape policy and practices within the sector.
Although retired, Mr. Russell continues to contribute to the industry he loves, now providing consultancy services to the American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA). His wealth of experience, in-depth knowledge, and commitment to the industry make him a trusted and respected figure in the world of construction.
